Italian Ice Cream - gelato - has gelled as several new scoop shops have opened.
Trentino Gelato, with a second location just in time for the summer (917 Franklin St. Suite
101. 713-444-1439), is all the rage with restaurateurs. Chef Marcelo Kreindel whips up
risqué flavors like chocolate chili for his Downtown shop. He also sells at the Midtown
Farmer's Market and supplies top spots Tony's, Benjy's, Vin and T'afia.
"Our main priority is to support our local artisans - that's why I buy Trentino gelato," says
chef Monica Pope of T'afia (3701 Travis St, 713-524-6922).
